Tamiflu Manufacturer Predicted Sales to be Up 531% in 2009

by Steve Remington

April 30, 2009

After researching the Annual Report (pdf) of Chugai Pharmaceuticals Co, LTD for the 2008 season, the manufacturers of the drug Tamiflu, it was found that on page 3 there was a prediction by the company that Tamiflu sales would be up 531% to reach ¥53.0 billion. This was all due to government stockpiling.

For the year, we forecast sales of Tamiflu to reach ¥53.0 billion, up 531.0%, due to expected resumption of government stockpiling in FY2009 and the ongoing recovery of the prescription rate for seasonal influenza.

Why would governments be stockpiling Tamiflu? It might be normal to stock up seasonally but to be up 531% from the previous year is rather suspicious… Is it not?

Obama’s Team Member Tests Negative To Swine Flu

by tremington

April 30, 2009

It was only moments ago that the Washington Post was reporting that a White House staffer, part of President Obama’s team that traveled to Mexico, was suspected of contracting swine flu and returning to the U.S. to infect family.

ABC News is now reporting those tests came back negative.

Oh my!

*Update* Members of the staffer’s family, 3 to be exact, do test positive and White House Press Secretary Gibbs said he believed the staffer’s test was negative because he had gotten over the flu and the test might not have shown it.

Swine Flu: Martial Law And Our Civil Rights

On Fox News, at least they are discussing some of the “what ifs”, mostly about the loss of our rights if the U.S. Government should attempt to declare martial law in dealing with a pandemic.

Is Swine Flu a False Flag For The Obama Administration?

by Steve Remington

April 30, 2009

Does the Obama Administration need a false flag in order to create a diversion from something else going on? Maybe the Administration finally figured out the economy is not going to recover and they are looking for any excuse to blame it on so Obama doesn’t come across as a failure??? I don’t know… I am just planting the seed. You get people to stop traveling and you get people to stop going to malls on subways and stop flying planes… and you get a royal economic catastrophe.

It was also quite surprising to see WHO raising their level to phase 5 yesterday calling this a true pandemic. Then Napolitano announced that all of us should begin putting WHO’s checklist and preparations together. This document here is a pdf file of the official WHO preparedness plan. So what happens during phase 5 and 6?

1.5.1 Legal issues
Rationale
During a pandemic, it may be necessary to overrule existing legislation or(individual) human rights. Examples are the enforcement of quarantine(overruling individual freedom of movement), use of privately owned buildings for hospitals, off-license use of drugs, compulsory vaccination or implementation of emergency shifts in essential services. These decisions need a legal framework to ensure transparent assessment and justification of the measures that are being considered, and to ensure coherence with international legislation (International Health Regulations).

Read that very carefully. In a pandemic, which was declared yesterday by raising the alert level to phase 5, they can enact this at any time. Does this mean we are in a current state of martial law but most citizens don’t know it? If this is what they can do NOW and nobody is protesting, this gives government a perfect opportunity to do what they would like. Is this all just a big paranoid outlook? You make the call.

What seems to be the need to raise levels and control all the headline news with pandemic warning when scientists are calling this a mild strain.

I think what will be interesting to see over the course of the next few days which view the government takes regardless of what scientists are saying. Even a couple days ago there was a report of the strain actually being man made. If it were in fact engineered could it possibly be used as a diversion to something else?

What are your thoughts? What could the diversion be used for and why…. ??

Scientists See This Flu Strain As Relatively Mild

by Steve Remington

April 30, 2009

Even though the World Health Organization is scaring the pig-tails off people by upping the crisis to a true pandemic, scientists are on the other hand telling the public the strain is quite mild.

As the World Health Organization raised its infectious disease alert level Wednesday and health officials confirmed the first death linked to swine flu inside U.S. borders, scientists studying the virus are coming to the consensus that this hybrid strain of influenza — at least in its current form — isn’t shaping up to be as fatal as the strains that caused some previous pandemics.

In fact, the current outbreak of the H1N1 virus, which emerged in San Diego and southern Mexico late last month, may not even do as much damage as the run-of-the-mill flu outbreaks that occur each winter without much fanfare.

Swine Flu Hits Three in Maine

by Steve Remington

April 29, 2009

Wednesday Maine has confirmed 3 cases of swine flu:

Three adults in Maine have tested positive for swine flu, state officials confirmed on Wednesday. Two of the victims live in Kennebec County, and the third lives in York County.

In addition, state officials announced Wednesday night the closure of Kennebunk Elementary School and the Crayon Academy day care center in Arundel because two children have exhibited symptoms of the swine flu. Both facilities are in York County.

“This is a serious situation,” said Gov. John Baldacci in declaring a civil emergency late Wednesday. “We are taking these precautions to slow the spread of the flu and to make sure Maine can respond quickly and efficiently.”

In a press release issued just before 8 p.m. Wednesday, the governor’s office indicated the declaration of a civil emergency would “allow the state to better respond to the emerging threat posed by H1N1 flu.”

Swine Flu Update from California

by Phillip

April 29, 2009

As a state that borders Mexico, and with many residents coming and going across that border on a daily basis, tension is running pretty high here in CA.  Since the initial outbreaks were reported, the State has flown into high gear, culminating in Governor Arnold Schwartzenegger’s declaration of a state of emergency.

On tonight’s news (April 28), we’ve seen at least three school closures as students have been diagnosed with the virus.  At Twentynine Palms US Marine Base, a marine is recovering from Swine Flu, while 36 other troops who’ve been in touch with him are under quarantine.  At the most recent report, there are 14 confirmed cases in CA, with 17 probably cases awaiting confirmation.

All of this sounds pretty drastic, especially in light of the spread of this thing around the world, and there’s certainly cause to pay close attention.  At the same time, it’s important to keep things in perspective.  As things develop, there may come a time when we need to be more concerned, but until then, the best thing we can do is observe hygiene practices (washing our hands regularly, covering our mouths and noses when we sneeze or cough, and use general common sense) and pay attention as it evolves.

In the meantime, I’ll be keeping an eye on things here in CA and around the world, and will pop in from time to time with updates from my neck of the woods.  I’m also following this on the Hog Blog, as researchers attempt to determine if hogs, domestic or wild, pose any threat to our health.

This just in from Huntsville Alabama…

HUNTSVILLE, AL. – Because of two ‘probable’ cases of swine flu being reported in Madison, the Huntsville, Madison and Madison County school systems will be closed until Monday.

As a precaution, experts are urging parents to keep all school-aged kids in the home and not around other classmates.
